Handmade Furniture Gallery

My Maine made furniture pieces that are currently available to purchase are listed at the top of the page. Below that --directly above-- is the entire gallery of my hand made furniture designs organized under the broader categories: TABLES, SEATING, CASE PIECES and BEDS. You can also browse my available wall art and mirrors in the new MIRRORS AND DECOR category above.

Please contact me to purchase an available piece or to discuss commissioning a design from my gallery - phone # and email at the bottom of this and every page.  I would also be happy to discuss designing and building a totally new piece for you. Visit my commission process page, to learn more about commissioning a piece of furniture.

And feel free to visit my studio and showroom in Edgecomb, Maine  where I design and hand-make all the work you see on this site.

I have been designing and building furniture on my own for over twenty years. Prior to that my training was mostly on the job; I worked my way through a handful of high end, custom wood shops building furniture, cabinets, and architectural millwork in Seattle, Washington and Portland, Maine through the late 80's and 90's. All of this came after growing up the son of a wooden boatbuilder, amongst the shavings, tools and boat hulls of my father's coastal Maine boat shop. So woodworking and an interest in useful, elegant shapes have always been in my life, though it wasn't until the early 2000's that I began seriously designing the type of distinctive, modern pieces that you see here on in my gallery. This began shortly after building my present shop in Edgecomb, Maine that I began working out of in 2004.

A few years ago I added the upstairs showroom to display and offer for sale several of my furniture pieces, as well as a growing number of smaller accessories. Prior to that I had been exhibiting my furniture at design and craft shows as a main means of marketing my work;  these included the Smithsonian Craft Show and the Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show. The showroom allows me to show my furniture in the same building its being made, and allow me to travel a little less to shows.

I work directly with architects, interior designers and individual home owners to create or re-create my designs to suit their functional and aesthetic requirements. I am able to produce wide-ranging custom variations of the pieces you see on this site as well as execute new designs from scratch. Many of the furniture pieces you see in the gallery on this site began as designs commissioned by clients, while others were speculative pieces. In either case, I design all my furniture to be useful, elegant and to last for generations.  I execute the designs with the highest level of craftsmanship, using the most appropriate and beautiful materials and building them one at a time or in small batches to ensure the highest level of quality and detail.

From the design and careful wood selection to the meticulous execution and finishing of each piece, I work to deliver pieces that are distinctive and of the highest quality available. I welcome you to contact me and/or to schedule a visit to my showroom and discuss what I can build for you.
