The Tiered side table, or stand, is essentially a combination of two smaller tables, permanently attached together. It can be used in a variety of ways including as a small two-tiered side table, or a stand to display small sculptures or other objects

The walnut half is 27″ high and features a knot that I chose to feature on its top. This attractive natural “blemish” provided an opportunity to introduce a brass filings and epoxy mixture as a filler. The combination of the walnut and the brass is a handsome one and provides a detail that makes this table truly unique.

The poplar half of the table is 22″ high and slightly narrower and shallower than its walnut companion. .The height matches the arm height of my Wise lounge chair. The off-white color of the finish is a sprayed, durable conversion varnish which is matched to Sherwin Williams’s “Bone white”.

Both the walnut and painted halves of the table are shaped so that their tops and bottoms taper in both width and thickness. They are then joined with tenon reinforced miter joints and are sprayed with a final, durable, satin clear coat finish.
